you know, quite by accident and it's totally unsubstatiated but has been repeatable at least 2 additional times. My biggest redfoot turned over the waterdish one day a few years ago and submerged 2/3 of her shell in mud (plain Missouri mud) and when I rinsed her off and scrubbed her clean there was intense smooth marbling at the growth lines of her scutes. If you have an outdoor pen or can stand a little indoor mess, you may want to try that if you're concerned. I think the mud REALLY locks in the humidity.. and I tend to believe most pyrmading is humidity related.
