Pulled these things out of a box turtle cage today that had become overgrown….I think they had cancer. One is so large that it literally seems to have split at the seams.

I bought them as "ornamentals". The flesh is yellow/white.
They've probably been growing for two years so I guess thats why they are so large…?
Yeah, regular potatoes are harvested annually, but I've never heard of the ornamental variety.

I've had mutant radishes and such from overgrown plants from my seed mix. Never had a potato.
The secret is you used the famed and widely acclaimed tortoise waste material, didntcha. ;-)
I once harvested a 4.5# russet. It was late in the year, but had been planted that year. Can't find the pic. It had re-sprouted in addition to the original greenery. Didn't look like a potato.
