Handsome dude, but is his upper jaw still overgrown to that degree? If so, you'll want to have something done.

It doesn't look like it to me, but I'll take a pic and post right now for safety's sake.

Has your's anything to gnaw on, like a cuttlebone or a piece of beef bone? Also, feeding on a slab of slate or limestone will help him wear down the beak a little, as well as the nails.

Wow, THAT SHELL! [SMILING FACE WITH HEART-SHAPED EYES] Did you have him from a hatchling? How have you kept it so smooth? I ask bc I have a 1.5 month old (my first tort ever), so I'm hoping to help her grow up nice and round like your little man!

Someone had asked for ages a few posts back. This is little miss Pearl Olivia, Eastern Hermann's, presumed female, hatched in Florida circa June 20th, arrived here in NC July 9th (2013). So still very baby!

Haha, you flatter me too much :) though I'm afraid I got him when he was already grown big, his conditions were pretty simple as far as I know from the info the previous owner gave me. Lots of uv and heat, humidity and a nice diet + a little measuring of everything is what works! :tort:

Omg! Everyone has such gorgeous Hermann's. I hope my tort has a smooth shell when he is 6. I'm trying everything I can. Humidity diet exercise. You need to share your secrets. Lol

Hilarious since I'm naught more than a beginner, or was at the time when that photo was taken. As I said above I didn't raise him as a hatching, but there are plenty of great tips and guides on this forum on how to raise them perfectly and with a little love, he'll be completely flat! :D

I was just thinking about getting him a cuttlebone so I suppose that settles it. As for the feeding part, I'm going to start doing that too. Lately he's been lacking a proper feeding spot, eating where he feels like - but it's time for a change! Thank you for the help.

Behold my "baby" eastern hermann's, Peter!

Peter1.jpg

We do not know how old he is, but next easter it will be 60 years that he's been with the family. He's 10cm and 1kg.

Every morning is a good morning when you're that awesome.

Every morning he will stay there for an hour or so, overlooking his "kingdom", then he will go explore. :p

Btw, what's that flower called? I take it that it's safe to feed. I have it in my flowerbed, but haven't tried feeding it to my guys.
