I have found someone local selling North American Wood Turtle hatchlings born 7/6. Are there any things I should ask of the breeder or things I should look for before purchasing one to make sure I'm getting a healthy one? I am new to this species .

If I am judging a hatchling, I want to see a turtle that seems strong in my hand. The feet should push strong against your hand when you hold it. IT needs to look alert with clear eyes - no puffiness or cloudy looking. There should be a good flight reflex and it should initially struggle to get away. I would want to see it eat. I would want to see visible growth seams already forming. If you hold it with finer and thumb across the margins of the shell, the shell should feel firm - as firm as your fingernail even in a 2 week old hatchling.

Also anyone know if $200 is a reasonable price for a hatchling?

Sounds like a good price for a N A Wood hatchling. Actually quite inexpensive from what I would normally expect.
Cool thanks Mark
