Hi guys!

Someone on Facebook found this tort in Ft. Meyers, Florida. They think it’s a Gopher Tortoise and are going to put it back. Is it a Sulcata??

That's a Gopher Tortoise, im almost certain.

The eyes being closed in all the pics makes me think something is wrong with it. That's probably why they found it. Maybe tell them to call FWC and what they advise.

@Tom. Is this a Sulcata?
Not a sulcata for sure. I've never seen gopher tortoise babies in person. Only pictures. So to my ignorant eye, it looks a bit like a CA desert tortoise which I know well. Given that its in FL, and it appears to be similar to the Gopherus species that I do know, I'm going to guess that is a gopher tortoise too.
