Sometimes, I forgot to mention to make sure it doesn’t. Thanks for pointing that out! Do you know if it affects other reptiles, too?

It is less of a problem for snakes and lizards, but it can cause the same problems if perlite is accidentally ingested while consuming prey. Small turtles and tortoises tend to ingest more substrate as it sticks to their food, and some baby chelonians will intentionally eat the little white flecks of perlite, while most lizards and snakes will not.
