Just curious if y'all know if any of the diseases and things that effect plants have adverse effects on torts. My hollyhocks get "rust" and a lot of the plants and weeds in my yard have developed powdery mildew. My roses get black spots. I've been avoiding feeding these but just wondering.

I think these are all some kind of fungus, and if nothing else they might make the leaves less nutritious or contain something that the plant has as an immune response, so less tasty or favorable. I recall cows avoid plants with mold, a problem for grass fed beef sometimes of the year.

I tried feeding cheese-weed (mallow) that had rust and the Manouria would not eat it, but both before and after the rusted cheese-weed they would eat it.

I don’t knowingly feed anything with mildew but my tortoise has no problem with mallow fungus, the way that Will’s do. She’ll eat just about anything in the spring.
