My plani dropped another egg. I have a 'formula' for brumation/incubation but would be interested in hearing from others that have successfully hatched these fellas. I have yet to get any to hatch (3 thus far).

I have hatched brygooi successfully and am using the same regimen for the plani but so far no good. It is a little anticlimatic to have these 'looking good' for 6-8 months and then fizzle out.

Any suggestions?

TIA

What exactly have you been doing for the P.planicauda eggs?

Based on a few individual's techniques it has typically been one of two methods:

1. Warm 30 - 60 days, cool 30 - 60 days, then warm.
2. Cool 30 days, then warm.

Cool = 14.0 - 17.4 C (57 - 63 F) @ ~40% RH
Warm = 28 - 29 C (83 - 85 F) @ ~80% RH

Typically, between the transitions I will remove them from the current environment and allow 3 - 5 days at ambient temp 21 - 26 C (70 - 80 F).

I have not repeated the 'brumation' stage even though I have heard that some may do so if no growth is seen after the 30th day of incubation following 'brumation'.

I have hatched two brygooi babies one using each method although the second (using #2) had the final incubation at ~50% RH until the last 2 weeks at which time it was raised to 80%. 209 & 227 days from deposit to pip, respectively.

So is this what you did with the P.planicauda eggs? Did you try both methods or just one? Exactly how long did you cool the P.planicauda eggs?

The plani's were 60 warm, 4 ambient, 60 cool, 5 ambient, remainder warm.

Try 30 days warm (31C), 90 days cool (14 to 16C), than back warm (31C) again.

Thanks Dan. Any particular humidity for each stage?

Your humidities look good for the incubator and the cool period. :)

Thank you again, Danny. I have upped the temp a notch and will set the alarm for 30 days hence.
