I'm really interested in picking up one, they have always caught my eye. Would love to hear some other peoples experiences with them and any care info would be greatly appreciated. Also where would you recommend picking one up? I know theturtlesource has some. Turtleshack also has some but I have heard bad things about them...

Thanks,
Scott

They're a excellent species to keep, very easy to care for. There are several care sheets available and you will have no problem providing for them. I keep several, over 100, and I have had no problems. They do like to be warm, all the time, even Miami gets to cold a few weeks every year. Look up my good friend Mike B., Snakes at Sunset, he has several subglobosa and excellent quality. You can call him at 305-757-6253 or order from his website.

Thanks so much Gerards, I was hoping you would chime in. I found a few care sheets the other night but thought to myself this can't be this easy...

I appreciate the info and all the beautiful pics you post on a regular basis. I want your mata matas, they're my favorite species of water turtle...

No problem, they grow really fast when kept warm and fed right, be ready for that.

By the way, Marc at The Turtle Source is a great guy and has some high quality turtles. Every time I get a new albino species, he always has the normal females or males I need for the project, and they've all been perfect.
