Here's a link to a site that has pretty good pictures of weeds:

http://weeds.cropsci.illinois.edu/weedid.htm

I think it would be nice to have all the pictures in the same place. So I'm starting a thread showing the pictures of plants we have already identified as being edible or not. It will be a closed thread, only allowing pictures of plants. If you have a picture you want added, please ask a moderator to add it for you.
I'm starting out with Groundsel, which is not edible:

Burr Clover is edible, but quite a nuisance plant:

RE: Pix of edible AND toxic plants

Thanks to Stells, here's a picture of edible, smooth sow thistle:

and this is burdock...toxic to animals:

This is also known as curly dock, sour dock, yellow dock. It is toxic to animals, but humans eat it:

"Curly dock is good forage for humans, though such is not the case for livestock. Many is he in farm country who has spent days clearing pastures of the stuff, for, as USU Extension explains, the leaves of curly dock are poisonous to cattle and sheep; the seeds and vegetation of curly dock are toxic to poultry and can cause dermatitis and gastric problems in cattle; and curly dock is an alternate host to many crop diseases. It is also indicted for toxicity to horses."

Coleus - edible (but should only be fed occasionally as part of a varied diet)

coleus-fairway-rose.jpg

Dianthus (sometimes called Pinks) - they are high in saponins and would lead to gastrointestinal complications. So it is recommended to feed as a small part of the diet and not to be fed with other plants high in saponins.

Yarrow - edible (sometimes the flowers are yellow)

Willow herb - (Epilobium sp.)... not suitable to feed but if your tortoise took a bite or two it wouldn't do any harm.
