Hello everyone, I have a few questions regarding CA permit laws and would really appreciate some help.
First of all, is it legal to own more than one desert tortoise in CA?
And, secondly, can they be confiscated while you are trying to apply for a permit? My father acquired these tortoises (one male, one female) before I was even born (I'm 27) and left them in my care when he moved to the east coast. I know they had permits at one point, but for some reason they never attached them to the tortoises (uggh) and, of course, can't find them. Anyways, I want to get them permits ASAP, but I'm so scared that they will be taken away from me for some reason. I've grown up with them and would be so heartbroken if that were to happen. So, does anybody have any information on this process? What do I say on the application??-- that they've been captive for years?
