I'm researching and assembling an enclosure for a future South African Leopard Tortoise.
I'm also looking for reputable and trusted breeders of Pardalis Pardalis. Any suggestions from my fellow forum members?

@Tom should have some hatching soon. I can’t recommend him enough. Finding true pardalis pardalis is not easy. Lots of people say they have them. Not as many people can prove they have not been mixed with any other subspecies at some point. Do a search on the forum to read about pardalis pardalis, it is a subject that has been talked about many times.

Hi Kipley. I'm expecting about 100 of them in fall. Toward the end of September or beginning of October is when they normally hatch. The only other person I would buy one from is my friends Chris and Amber of Rodriguez Chelonians. They also have true Gpp from the same source as mine, and they start their babies super well.

If Will and Yvonne are getting babies, I'd buy from them too, but I can't recall if they've hatched any yet. @Yvonne G @Kapidolo Farms
Yvonne has two from me that are adults now, and her and Will start babies well hydrated and humid with a wide variety of foods.

Here is how to house them:

Where my babies are started:

Here is how I start them:

Here is what typically happens when you buy them from the wrong source:

Babies should not be outside all day and soaked only once a week. And romaine just is not a good food for them.

Here is how to feed them. I feed them exactly the same as sulcatas. The SA variety are big time grass eaters, and lots of grass hay as adults.

Questions and conversation are welcome.

Hi Tom, thanks for your reply and the links.
I contacted Chris and Amber Rodriquez a few days ago. They said theirs are almost ready to go and that they have a waiting list and they will be first come first serve- so keeping an eye open for that notification.
I contacted Will about the same time I posted here. He said he didn't have any available but recommended I contact you.
So as I'm getting my ducks in a row, good to know you will have some available as well. September/October would work well for me.

Off to read your links. I'm still trying to decide if I should go with an aquarium or a concrete mixing tub with a cover. I'm afraid the lights might be too close in a covered tortoise table style enclosure like the mixing tub? An aquarium would give me the ability to raise and lower the lights as needed. I guess a dimmer would achieve the same thing.
Do you have a website?

I don't have a website. I just post stuff here.

You'll be much better off with an actual closed chamber than a tub or tank. They work much better and they make it so easy to maintain the correct conditions.

The AP cages look perfect. They have the 48" x 24" x 12" terrestrial listed as quick ship. Would that be too small to house one tortoise for a year or so?

The shipping on the AP cages exceeds the cost of the cages! So waiting on two things today: First I found a used AP cage in the size I want, complete with two heat panels on Craiglist. There is a couple looking at it today - if they don't take it I will buy it this evening. Second, I found a local builder who makes really nice reptile enclosures who knows exactly what I'm looking for (he raised a sulcata in an enclosed environment) and is going to give me some quotes on both a fiberglass coated plywood cage with sliding glass doors as well as a nicer looking, built to last PVC enclosure. Things are moving on...
