We've been really interested in keeping a caiman lizard for the last couple of years. But, the situation just wasn't right to pursue it further. Recently, we came across a CBB juvenile female for sale. Being CBB was a huge selling point for us and it made our decision to buy one now a little easier to make. About a week and a half after getting our first one, we decided to add a second one (another CBB specimen). Currently, the 2 juvenile females are being quarantined in a makeshift converted dog kennel, that I constructed with Coroplast, acrylic, and silicone. There is a Rubbermaid tub filled with water, which is filtered and heated to 80F, inside the enclosure. There are lots of branches and cork tubes overhanging the water, from where the girls like to bask. They are provided a large basking area that varies from 95-110F, a 5.0 UVB light, and a regular LED light fixture. Currently, they are devouring frozen freshwater shrimp, frozen apple snail meat (staple food), and frozen mussels, which we buy from the local Asian market.

Here's a photo of the girls and their temporary enclosure. Eventually, they will be moving into a 4'x8'x7' enclosure, which will include a 405 gallon swimming area.

Lol. I know exactly what you mean when it comes to the water upkeep. Our 19 year old fly river turtle lives in a 600 gallon fiberglass tank and I do 50% water changes twice a week on his setup. These 2 originated from a zoological institution, who has had great success captive breeding this species.
