I know it's good for them, but I was wondering how often people feed opuntia to there tortoises, is it something you would feed everyday? couple times a week? or once and a while.

I've been giving it to my sulcata a couple times a week, but my leopard doesn't seem to like it too much.

I believe there are people on here who offer it daily. I would feed it a couple times a week.
I just found some at a Mexican food store so my Russian had his first taste the other day (poor deprived tortoise :p) Definitely something I plan on giving him regularly, now that I know where to find it!

Thanks,

yeah I just found somewhere that I can get it regularly, I just don't want to overfeed it to them.

Our leopard, Princess Leia, LOVES opuntia. She gets it a few times a week.

Mine won't touch it, but i'm gonna keep trying, maybe he'll come around

From what I've read, the only downside is that it can make their stool a bit more loose than normal, but not in a way that is detrimental to the tort.

On a side note, we used to spend time cutting it into nice small pieces. Then one day Erin just threw a pad in for her. We didn't think she would eat it. WRONG. She seems to prefer the challenge of eating it that way.
