Walking for weeds today, as Coronageddon continues, when I see this in the field next to the community garden. Looks like wild carrot but it doesn’t grow here; we do have hemlock, which looks similar but this isn’t it. Could some carrots have seeded themselves outside of the garden fence? Stuff pops up there all the time.
I crush some in my hand; doesn’t smell like carrot but, hmm, doesn’t smell entirely different. Head scratch. I take a picture to check on PlantSnap later.
It’s caraway! The stuff in rye bread and apparently foods from quite a few different cultures. And a carrot relative, it turns out.
Now I’m wondering who was growing it. Seeds aren’t expensive so someone must grow it for the roots or leaves. MYSTERY! Lol
