Plans have been made for the new build- an awesome walk in outdoor enclosure. This will be almost 4 times larger than the current home. The upside in no more crouching down and crawling to reach in the corners. Not to mention the added roaming space.

The current home is nice but this will be a signifigant upgrade.

Current home

Here is the first weekend pic, just clearing out the space. Went to home depot and got some paint to update the storage unit since once we start building it will be next to impossible to do.
Next weekend we will till the dirt insert the post and start the framing.

I am so excited!!!!

Based on your past enclosure, this will also be great!
You do great work!

Thank you! My awesome hubby will do most of the labor so I have to pass some credit on to him. :)

Update: So we got part of the frame built this weekend. It's 20 feet long, a good size space for our three little guys. Also, nothing to the with the habitat but I also painted the rusty roof of the adjacent shed with rustoleum.

UPDATE: New walk in outdoor enclosure - almost done :)

We are now about 75-80% done. Each of our 3 little guys has more room than before and no longer sharing space. This is fully enclosed and allows them to enjoy the outdoors safely. The best part is I can walk in and move around freely.

When we finished last night it started getting dark so took my pics before I finished making it pretty.

My next steps:
*Add more topsoil and grow some good weeds in here.
**The sides have a top lip so they cannot get over the separation rail but after some discussion with my hubby last night we agreed to make it a bit higher.

And of course these habitats are never “done” I am sure we will think of plenty of other things to add and change along the way. :D

Very nice. Once it gets planted and growing strong it will be beautiful. Very nice job! I agree those separation walls need to be higher. I had to raise my separation walls for my DT's just a few months ago. Remodeling, expanding and building a new enclosure now. It does seem never ending, but it has been 11 years since I last did this much work for them, hopefully this time it lasts as long or longer.

You (and the tortoises) are so going to love using and being in this enclosure. Did you remember to create a special spot for you to be able to sit back, relax, and enjoying watching them?

I don't have a spot inside the enclosure but I do have a great spot right along side it under a nice big tree. A great place to enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the little guys.

I am so excited!!! I work from home tomorrow and I can't wait to get dirty and start planting!
