Hello, I am very new to this sort of thing! My neighbor found this turtle and gave it to us because her cats were about to eat it! There are many cats around my neighborhood so I was afraid to let it go and I decided to keep it! Can anyone help me to identify it? Its just a baby so I know it might be difficult, but I would be extremely greatfull! I live in West Virginia if that helps, and there are many box turtles around here, so could it possibly be a baby box turtle?

It's probably an eastern box turtle (and might be "protected" in your state). Baby box turtles dehydrate very quickly, so be sure to keep it in a moist environment.

And...welcome to the Forum!
