Hello! I am a new tort owner and I got him yesterday. Can you let me know if this is normal?
- not eating
- mouth looks black and stained
- can’t really see his nose holes
- eyes: one is slightly bigger than other?
- not really active

I’m not sure if it’s because he’s sick or he is not eating due to the new environment. I give him warm water soaks so I’m not sure. Please help!

I use a 75 watts heat lamp and a UVB lamp.

I agree that tort is dry who's the breeder? Regardless of that you need to hydrate that tort.

First things first. This little dude needs some loooong soaking in a warm water. Since you just got the tort it might take a day or few for it to eat normal. Sulcatas love their cactus I would offer that just to start him/her eating. Next - what are the temperatures and humidity. This tort looks relatively young.

Hi Agata, yeah! I soak him for about 20 minutes a day in warm water - he kind of just sleeps in the water. I'm worried he might be sick? or maybe adapting to his new environment. This is the 2nd day I've had him, so hopefully he will start eating soon. I've bought a humidity and thermometer reader on Amazon (arriving thursday). Currently hes sitting under a 75W basking bulb and UVB 100 bulb. I also spray his enclosure once/twice a day. ?

If you can weigh it, would be good to know if it’s past the 75 gram mark or not. Do you know how old it is?

Hopefully one of the very experienced breeders will chime in here..... I’d be trying to feed it Mazuri and also daily long warm soaks.

You need to know the temps. What are you doing for night heat? What type of UV bulb?

Read this for the correct care info. Most of what you find is universally wrong.
