Hello all,
I am a new and proud owner of a 1 year old Russian Tortoise that I have bought yesterday. I’m kind of worried about my temperatures. My Russian has been basking for already 4 hours and he’s been sleeping. I don’t want him to dry out but I also don’t want to disturb him. I have the water bowl inside his enclosure so he can go to it. The temperature is about 95-100 degrees Fahrenheit.
The temperature on the cooler sides are 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. I am wondering if I should raise the temperature for the overall enclosure. And if I do need to raise the temperature, I am wondering if I should use a heat mat or a ceramic bulb. Plus when it’s time to turn off his lights the temperature goes around 70-65 at night.
Also one of my questions are the way I’m tracking the temperature is through one of those temp saucers I bought from my local pet store. I am wondering if I should buy a temp gun.
Thank you.
