What my vet did once was flush saline through my tortoises nostril passages. We thought maybe she had blockage. Turns out she didn't.

Yeah he loves you by now :)
I think he looks awesome and if he hated you he would have a few fingers in his mouth for those pics.

I'm probably going to pick at his nostrils and give him a flush tomorrow. I'm also going to be swabbing his mouth with some iodine just to be safe, mouth rot is usually bacterial so if he's got it this should take care of it. Depending on how he takes that we might start work on his beak.

Poor thing bites like he's made of rubber. We are getting lots of natural sunlight and calcium into him though. Every time I go into his pen I get bitten and rammed. :p

Thank you for taking in this lovely Yellow Foot. He might warm up to you in time. He has had a rough life. I see sweetness in his eyes. He just needs love... and better care. And you are giving him just that. *smile*

He's got nostrils! They actually had one nostril completely sealed with gunk. I went at him with a Qtip and then did a flush. He still hates me.

Also he's only 4lbs and poops like a Labrador. Its full of hair and rocks and sticks and lord knows. 0727181917a.jpeg

He looks so much better and his eyes are brighter! The poor thing. He was obviously horribly treated and neglected. I think he hates people, not you. Who could blame him? I think they are intelligent and he will see that yes you are handling him but his life gets a little better each time. After a rough start, I think he is a very lucky tortoise finding you.

Amazing! You have given that little guy a smile back on its face.

Must be are hard job nursing a tortoise back to health (only found mine a month ago and learning everyday) but what a lovely thing to be able to do and watch them get better!
