Hi all,

I have invested in a new viv for Halloumi and she seems to love it.

I tried it out yesterday and it was a bit warm (I realised I turned the thermostat the wrong way). I have only moved her in today. It does seem to get quite warm in there. I have a microclimate thermostat attached to the bulb and have it set about 31c. I currently only have a dial analogue thermometer and it shows 35c. Does it need to stay this warm most of the time? How do I create a cooler end for her? How humid should it be?

I am just after some advice really. The bed is quite bare but I will jazz it up.

Hi.
Looks like you have a Hermanns.
Are you using sand in there ?
If so it's not recommended as a substrate because it can irritate eyes skin and nose and if ingested with food can cause the gut to become impacted which is very painful and can be fatal.
This is the up to date caresheet you'll need

Hi,

It is a mix of tortoise substrate which I have strained the limestone grit from as she eats it and coco coir. The substrate is a mix.

I have seen the care sheet many times I was more after advice; but thank you!
