Need helping gaining weight for a rescue!

ALSO..... your new tortoise may be light in weight at least partly because of dehydration. I highly recommend soaking in warm water at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours a day. Perhaps soaking twice until weight comes up is even better. If the newcomer is eating well that is great but if it's not that is often also a sign of dehydration.

Skipping numbers one and two could possibly yield positive results, but will most likely result in a dead tortoise or two, which I assume is the opposite of the reason you are trying to rescue the new one... I hope you'll listen to the advice you've been given here.
