Hello friends, I am new to this forum but I have been reading publications for a year, I am from Spain, sorry for my English, two and a half years ago I bought a sulcata supposedly 1 year old in a store (I checked its weight and it was 45g) I think that He was not even 1 year old yet. The problem is that in two and a half years the turtle only gained 69g of weight, it is in a terrarium of 80 × 45 × 45 with UVB 10.0 EXO TERRA and heat from a ceramic bulb, it is very active constantly eats dandelions' teeth mulberry leaves , grass and all kinds of herbs that I take from the field, defecate correctly drink water every day, always take a minimum bath, the temperature is 32 ° C humidity I imagine less than 50 due to the heat, but the problem is that I do not notice a noticeable growth in the turtle and I am starting to get very sad, I suspect that she may have some genetic or thyroid problem .. She looks very happy and active and eats a lot but I think that if she does not grow in a short time she does not have much hope of life ... I appreciate your answers, I try to take care of her as if she were my daughter but I don't know what else to do ... thank you.

Greetings & Welcome to The Forum.

First off, don’t give up hope. The fact it is eating well & moving about is good. It was probably started incorrectly by the original breeder. Keep feeding it greens & make sure that you are soaking it in shallow warm water every day.

There’s a very good care sheet under Sulcatas. Covers substrate, lighting, soaking, food & more.

Try to upload a pix of your enclosure & your tortoise.

Good luck.

You need to get a new bulb. The coil bulb can cause problems with the eyes. Does his bottom jaw go over the top jaw? @Maro2Bear

Yes i buy the animal with the jaw over the top jaw like a genetic problem i think, i trim his beak with pulse but this is the result

I think the humidity needs to be higher (more humid). Is she in a covered enclosure?

Greetings. There are many many posts here on the Forum about the reported dangers caused by coiled CFL bulbs like the one you are using.

Definitely remove them today.
