A friend of ours had a hitchhiker from Florida cross the border into Canada with them and were not sure what it is. This is the only photo I have right now as they are in isolation and are too scared to lift the container they have it trapped under. I am hoping to go over and save it and rehome it but I need to know what it is first

Looks like a brown Anole. They're common in Florida.

It doesn't look like an Anole to me. The head is not the right shape (too blunt) and the tail looks a bit too long for an Anole. It looks more like a fence lizard to me. Here is info: https://alchetron.com/Eastern-fence-lizard

Yep
Common brown Anole. Probably our most common indigenous lizard.
He won't be around long after the temperature gets below 50.
And they are 100% harmless unless you're a cricket

He is MUCH smaller than I anticipated. I will take proper photos when I get him home but not sure what he is he is so tiny!

The original picture was a bit confusing. It DOES look like a brown Anole in your most recent photos.

He does look like an anole when I compare it to google images. I just set it up with what I had but I’m worried it’ll starve 96FAFAAB-942E-4912-9F34-89B1ACDA73B1.jpegC80EDA1D-8FEA-48D6-AFAB-D0FBBEF4FADD.jpeg7D728667-8C7B-4B35-A682-3EB220D0BBDB.jpeg

I'm far from being a lizard expert, but that really looks like the anoles my son brought home from the fair, which always escaped to turn up unexpectedly to scare me.

Definitely not something we see here in Canada lol so hopefully it doesn’t escape and someone wants to take care of it

They eat all types of bugs. You could try mealworms and small crickets which you might be able to buy in a pet store.

I used to keep those Anoles as a kid and fed them the various little bugs which were attracted to our porch lights at night. I used to get the bugs off the screen and into a jar with a lid on it, then just put the jar in the tank with the anoles and remove the lid so the bugs would come out to get eaten.

Pet stores are closed right now due to lockdown, but I did collect a few bugs from my backyard. Hoping they’ll be gone the next time I go check on it.

I do love this photo I took though, looks like he’s worshipping Godzilla king of the Monsters 18D97429-14F5-412D-B211-D9A0B46D0282.jpeg
