My tortoise has a red thing coming out of her butt. What is it?

Has it gone back in yet?
He's very small to be flashing.
If it is still out, could it be a prolapse?

Doesn't look like normal male "Parts" to me. Plus that tortoise is very young. If it hasn't gone back in do not let it dry out. Keep the tort soaking if anything and wait till some more experienced people can give you some advice here.

vThat's not a penis, and because of the tortoise's size it's a very serious issue. Keep the prolapsed tissue wet, don't let it dry out. Moisten your fingers with veg. oil and, using the flat part, or pads of two fingers gently press on it an try to press it back inside.

It is very important to figure out why this happened - a large parasite load, constipation - anything that might cause this baby to strain.

Within a couple minutes of seeing it, it had slowly gone back done. And now is not their any more. She has pooped since then, so now I'm just watching to hopefully see it not happen again. I ask people on Facebook group and they said it was a prolapse rectum.
Thank you for everyone's reply

Good call on all this. When I first viewed the pix It was small and I didnt note the size/age of the tort in question, so automatically assumed it was a flash.

Glad to hear it’s retracted.

I'm glad he's OK but keep an eye on it and see if you can find out why he may be straining, because it can be serious and fatal if it doesn't go back.
