I love the way the edge of his carapace curls up right behind his neck. He's a beauty!

I have noticed some male torts do not have that happen to their shell, heard it is a locale subspecies thing? True?

Thanks so much for the compliments on my good old boy! Just absolutely adore him as much as I did when he was a tiny fifty cent piece size.

I always wondered how much damage the big guys would inflict on our fingers. I did it a few weeks ago, I was giving Alice her last few pieces of greens and my finger under the leaf extended a little too far and she took a very large bite. She only caught the tip of my pointer finger but it was deep and the bone hurt allot. It was not intentional at all. She couldn't see my finger there.

It was almost bone crushing. I can imagine what would happen with a small dog leg or something like that. I have always heed the warnings of the members of this forum. Never leave other pets with a sully. Never underestimate the power of the sully. They don't like change, although I think change is good for them. I see Alice wants to investigate new things in how play area and might try to move them to see what will happen. She soon leaves them alone and becomes uninterested.

I had a maintenance guy in her area. As he sat on the floor, Alice began to charge toward him. Of course, I was on guard and quickly distracted her but you could tell she meant business..

yes since he was a a tad bigger than a fifty cent piece :) bought him not knowing he would go from 35 grams to over 100 lbs. i knew nothing about the right care he needed but I have learned so much over the years. i haven't weighed him in a while not sure what he weighs now. guessing 110, 120 ish. going to try to get his weight again this summer. He is full of sully vigor.

Charlie is going to be 20 next month. He was also the size of a quarter when I got him. I knew what I was getting when I got him and the size is part of the reason I wanted him. I like having a dinosaur in my yard.

Thank you all for compliments! I think he is the bomb but it means alot to have others appreciate his awesomeness!

I am awed that he has turned into such a giant from a hatchling!
