My Spider tortoises :)

Here is my pair of spider tortoises. around 4-5 years old raised from hatchlings by a friend of mine who is retiring from torts......Score :)
Im having a hard time with the sub species ID and good indoor requirements other than how they have been raised thus far as info is scarce at best so any info you guys can lend is greatly appreciated.

WOW, beautiful torts. I would personally keep doing what your friend has been doing for their first 4-5 years. They look great. I don't know anything about that species, so I can't help other then keep doing the same thing. Good luck. Lucky you.

Very nice specimens. Given the hinge they are a pyxis arachnoides. Maybe brygooi. Tim/robin would know.

tim/robin, That bugger should be stickied :) I went all ove for the last few weeks and never would have guessed to find it there.
Thanks guys Im really excited about this pair, they aren't shy at all and ate right away.

Hopefully that helps clear up the confusion. Once you see a few and can compare, it is pretty easy to tell them apart! Well....... adults that is hatchlings don't develop the hinge for several years.

The yellow on that one on the left is amazing! I haven't seen a Pyxis a. arachnoides with those types of markings before. What an epic score! Keep the photos coming!
