This is my 2 and a half year old that I got from our own JeffG. He/she is now being cooled to prepare for breeding. I should know the sex in a few more weeks.

Nice looking. Do both sexes have too be cooled for breeding? How low do you cool them too and for how long? I have no knowledge of these guys.

Yes. Both sexes need to be cooled.

Some people just gradually shorten the time the heat lamp is on and the bluey just brumates at room temp in its cage. I have mine in dark tubs in a quiet place, and I'm gradually dropping the temp to about 60-65. I'm planning on leaving them cool for about 5-6 weeks, then gradually warming them up. Once I get them warmed back up and eating a bit, then the FUN will begin.

I have very little experience with these guys too, but I have a great coach and mentor helping me through every step of the process. Some days I ask Jeff 10 questions a day. He is a very kind and patient man. If I achieve any success at breeding this first year, it will be due to his knowledge, experience and willingness to help.

Very cool Tom. Be sure too keep us posted on the breeding out come.:). I'm sure you will have success. You put your heart and sole into your animals.
I actually thought you used to breed these guys. But it was Tegus wasn't it?

I've kept and raised lots of lizards. Never bred any of them.

That's a cool looking lizard. I went back and read your original post about him. Is he still as personable/friendly and pet-like as you described originally?

How big do they get?
Your original post makes me want one!!!

About 24" total length on the Northerns. He's a cool dude. Or maybe a dudette...

Very manageable. Great pets. Very interactive for a reptile.

That's quite a specimen you got there. I always loved to see them at the zoo. I think their skin is soooo cool. It's soft and so smooth. If you get a successful breed, will you do more?
