I picked this guy up at the herp show in conroe yesterday. He seems to be settling in. He ate a small mealworm and some reptomin sticks.

Such a pretty species. I just love Emydura in general. They all look similar, but have their differences. Great turtles.

Oh those are so cute! Even when they get 'older'.
I like sidenecks... these guys are really flexible, what are you planning on keeping him in?

He is in a 20 gallon aquarium currently. I have a 55 gallon once he is a little bigger, and an outdoor pond once he is not so appetizing. I am really enjoying him. He is not shy at all.

I decided to call her Cassandra. Hopefully it turns out to be female.

126 grams. Does her shell look ok? It looks like it is peeling.

Great that you weigh her often. Shows how much you care.

    As always, love the updates.

Up to 10 inches across. The houston zoo has several that they have had for a while. They appear to be a little smaller than that, but are housed indoors. She will be in a pond once i don't have to worry about wildlife eating her. Houston sunshine seems to do wonders for growth. My tortoise starting growing so much once he went outside full time. I just take her out for supervised pond time currently.
