What a beautiful baby. Congrats on your new member. I always wanted one to raise, but I just don't have the space. It's times like these that I wish I had bought a farm.:-/

Cute picture. How big and what is his weight now?

Before his soaking this morning, he is just shy of 6 inches and weighs 676 grams :tort:

So is approximately 400 grams increase in weight and 1 3/4 inches growth in 6 months time too little, too much or just about right? Anyone? Aldabraman?

No worry, mine also pretty slow growth, only 1 inch in 7 months. Greg said it's still within normal growth.

Mine was 7.5" scl the last time I checked and is the runt of the group I bought (and the only one I decided to keep). It is not yet a year and a half old. The animal seems to have grown larger every time I have looked at it. It should have a very good warm season this year.

Your runt is already 7.5" scl for 1.5 years.

Mine now only like 6" for 2 years, but he's still growing, that's the most important. Maybe one day he will decide to grow more :D

As long as the growth quality is there, the rate is of much less importance. If food is always available and heat and moisture are adequate, then I would call it good and let it go at its own pace.

I love to catch him all stretched out! So cute!!

Yes, more photos of that, please! I love the way adult Aldabrans sleep/rest with utter abandon, legs stretched out in whatever way they fit. Do the small ones sleep like that, too? -or generally a bit retracted into the shell?

If dug in, they slept more in the shell. If in an open space, they slept sprawled.

Thanks for this info; I have posted a photo of a sleeping adult male in the photos section, in case you want to see what luxury beach accommodation looks like on Aldabra :D
