Just as a foot note.
There was a bad, night time, Florida rainstorm outside in 1984. Misty, my Shepherd was almost 2 years old and was outside in her huge dog box that I built for her. The loud thunder and heavy rain drove her crazy, so I ran outside and brought her inside my tiny little cottage. (times were tough back then) Maxine was in an open top, four foot square wooden box that had one foot high sides, that sat on the floor of my living room. Content that my pets were safe, I went to bed. Around 2 AM, I awoke to a crunching sound. I got up and went into the living room to find Misty laying on the floor, cross legged, holding Maxine between her front paws trying to eat her like she was a big soup bone. I yelled at her and took her back outside. Maxine had tooth marks on her back and belly, but no blood was drawn. In the photo, you can see the tooth marks that healed from back in 1984.
So, in a way, Misty and Maxine are together again under the backyard bird bath tombstone.
Maxine outlived Misty by 21 years.
