The patterning on his head looks more eastern. I think you have a real mutt there! Beautiful animal.

His genetics are from Baton Rouge Louisiana where 3toeds and gulfs merge producing all types of coloration. I've always said that gulf coast in south Louisiana can be much more colorful that people think. He is such a stunner, the picture does him absolutely no justice.

Wow! My 3 toed are drab olive green. But they do have very colorful red markings on the heads and front legs. I love the pattern on your boy's shell.

Thanks, he is definitely not a "common" coloration. The area where gulf coast and 3toeds merge produces some gorgeous box turtles. Definitely much different than a pure 3toed but far from a typical gulf coast. He has four toes and is the average size of a gulf coast but has some striking coloration. His concave isn't as deep as a pure gulf coast male.
