A few weeks ago, I was concerned about overheating & dehydration of my 7 yo DT Parker. Now, I’m wondering, since it’s monsoon and he spends almost all time outside, is he too cool? I was observing him the other day & he kept closing his eyes a lot. He also acted like he had something stuck in his throat. He is eating well. Soaking abt every other day in warm water, esp if it’s cool. We have had about three weeks of monsoon. Usually it’s warm and sunny in morning and storms come in afternoon. Then one night at 4 am we spigot a huge storm with a lot of thunder, since it has been clouding and/or raining much earlier. The night of 4 am, Parker left his hide and I think he walked off retainer wall, about 10-12 inches. I found him upside down in am. He doesn’t seem to be able to turn himself over. Freaked me right out!! He did t seem to be injured. Also, his hind legs have some spots of light (yellow?). I don’t know if this is a problem or just where his legs rub on his shell. He doesn’t poop in his water like he did last season. I’m going to post a few pics so if you see anything I should be concerned about, pls let me know. Also, what is third eyelid? Bc of his blinking, I wondered if his eyes were swollen above his eyes. Sorry for lengthy post. Thanks in advance for help.

Sounds like he might need a heated dry shelter for the wet weather.

He shouldn't have access to a 10-12 inch drop off.

As far as how he looks, I think he's beautiful! The yellow on his legs is normal. The coloring of their skin is not consistent anyway, and it does look like his shell is keeping those spots clean! ?

Thanks Tom. He does have a dry shelter. He has my Whole yard to roam. He has used those bricks to bask on and walked along them many times, Never walked off or trying to navigate down.

I never dreamed he would leave his hide at night and wander in the dark. I think the storm w very loud thunder must have spooked him, and it was dark. I’ll try to do better.
