I think my redfoot hatchling (Sophie) has mites. I'm seeing tiny white bugs jump from her shell. I never noticed them before, but I took her out on our lawn last week and I wondering if that's where she got them?

I saw a post that said to buy a strip and take away the water dish for a week, but I can't imagine taking away her water. I work and am away from the home sometime 9 hours at a time.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

The small white bugs aren't the mites that will suck blood from your tortoise. :D They do though occur in damp substrate. I've got plenty in my young box turtle set-ups and they have never bothered the box turtles. It's all in what you can live with I guess :p, but they won't hurt your tortoise.
