Hi All,
New to the forum and owning a tortoise, we have had our Hermann tortoise (George) now for just under a year....we are not 100% sure he is male as yet, but that was the name my other half opted for!
Over the last 12 months, we have learnt a lot some key points I have noticed/experienced.
1) he is now starting to recognize us more, if ever we are by his viv and he's in an 'active' mood he's climbing the wall/glass to be let out. I only have to put my hand inside now and he will come and sit on my hand waiting for me to lift him out...which is kind of nice I guess
2) He has two main corners where he likes to sleep, one is nearest to the basking/heat lamp and the other in the opposite/cooler side. These are the only corners he sleeps in and sometimes will even move his plastic pant pot about to either climb in or hide behind.
3) We feed him a mixture of dandelion, clover, kale and romain lettuce and on very rare occasions will give him a tiny bit of strawberry as a treat...which he goes mental for!
4) we try to give him a soak once maybe twice a week but sometimes he just climbs the sides to get out.
5) no issues with his 'deposits', although we did give him a cabbage leaf once and we don't think it agreed with him! Never again!
from the pictures, would you say he appears to be healthy tortoise?
