Eastern box turtles eat shrew that wondered in the wrong place at the wrong time. Shrews are a species of rodents with a fast metabolism. They can live up to two years, but they must eat.In fact they must continuously eat upward of 300 times their body weight a day and can't go more than a few hours without food. They do hibernate though. The box turtles made a quick meal out of him with the dominant male running off into the sunset with him.

Hard core. Shrews have venomous salivary glands.

And Hanta virus. Which turtles probably don't care about either.

They're smart little whipper snappers...have had an occasional one in an aquarium. They eat anything (bones included), and learn to use a drip bottle fast. Make a weird buzzing noise when they're irritated.

'Be a fun pet species if they weren't so short lived. And their pee smells like mold.

And the Hanta virus thing...

I'm not worried. It's not the first one they've eaten. Doesn't seem to bother them, they live outdoors so they're bound to hunt.

These two species have been living on the planet together a long, long time.

Proto-cats gotta proto-cat; reptiles gotta reptile.
