I've got a 10 month old sulcata that I thought was doing well until tonight when the Mrs pointed out a weird spot on her shell. It's not soft but it doesn't look normal. I'm hoping someone has seen this and has an idea of what it may be.

For a little background I keep her enclosure as close to 80% humidity and spray her down a few times a day. I've admittedly become lax with soaking her. I give her calcium twice a week and she has a cuttle bone. She's not getting as much sun as I'd like considering the weather but I take her out when I can.

The spot is on her rear right side and looks like a round dent going in. Aside from this she acts fine and eats like a horse. She's always up and about and shows no signs of weak limbs or weak jaw. Let me know what you think it may be.

Thank you in advance.

I'm not an expert and I don't keep sulcatas, but from pictures I've seen of MBD in the forum, that doesn't look like those. Maybe it could be a deformity from an old injury?

I see the dent you are talking about. It sounds like you have ll the bases covered with calcium, UV, humidity and temps. It is likely just an unusual growth anomaly. I would watch it, but not worry too much.

What do you typically feed?

i agree with whats being said here, i think that its not serious and will probably grow out of it over time, great work keeping the humidity up and the calcium added. Be sure to replace the uv bulbs when they say to according to the box to insure that your sully is getting the proper uv's it needs.

I have some photos of my one year old Sulcata tortoise. I noticed two dimples or dents on the back of his shell. Left and right of his rear end shell. Is this signs of MBD or am I just paranoid. Thank you.
