Well he’s arrived!

Couple of initial observations...

- drinking a lot
- happily walking around the tortoise table... but he sort of seems to struggle to walk through the coco coir substrate and kind of moves his legs without moving forward, just moving deeper! Not sure if this is intentional or if he’s struggling on the loose surface.

Note: he’s tiny! I need measure/weight him properly but he’s about 2 inches SCL.

He found the water... both just drinking from the edge and submerging!

Digging his trench... not sure if this is intentional or not.

A moving home treat!

Looks great...., I would personally wet the peatmoss down a lot more. It can initially really soak in a lot of water, but once 100% saturated/hydrated it then will maintain moisture better. Kind of like a houseplant thst dries out.... a mere watering and the water runs off, but given a proper soak to rehydrate, it retains and maintains moisture a lot better.

But - all looks great. Maybe toooooo “neat” :). J/K of course.

Good luck.

I think that's going to be one happy tortoise!

As he grows, he will probably rearrange or knock over the freestanding potted succulents. What works for me is using short orchid pot hangers (metal) and hanging the small potted plants from the top edge of the enclosure. It makes it so much easier to lift the plants out and water them separately. That would probably work with the potted basil as well.
