An interesting read on the Marine Corps' efforts to protect baby desert tortoises in California by creating "raven no-fly zones."

Yes, this is encouraging to know.
It's ironic that we humans (some of us) are now trying to assuage or undo the damage that we so often caused in the first place!
Something I started thinking about when I read this article:
Relocation of adult tortoises sometimes does not work because they have been removed from a known and accommodating environment, and placed into a strange and alien one, with new predators, landscape, etc.
Will the hatchlings of these relocated adults be better off, having been born into that relocated area? Apart from getting eaten, that is...!
