I have two marginated torts. They are both around a 1.5 years to two years. One is 449 grams and the other is 500 grams. When should I be able to tell the sex? What is a good weight.

I know nothing about Narginated tortoises.
But as far as sexing goes. Six or seven years old.
This is true of Redfoot. Maybe Marginated reach sub adult sizes earlier.
Someone with more Marginated experience will be along.
I only chimed in because I was summoned here.;)

Alright. How much do your weigh.
Don't know. Don't weigh them anymore. Only did that the first 2 years. They are quite heavy now and differ from appr 15 tot 20 cm. They have dug themselves into the ground for hibernation already. First year I let them choose, as before they were in a hide I made myself. They have an enormous enclosure so they can be in a hollow olive tree of under one of the big shrubs. We'll have to wait until March. Miss them already.

Here is a plastron picture of my boy. he flashed me this year so that solved the "what sex" mystery on him. hope this tail picture helps. it is getting thicker and longer, vent is more of a slit not a puckered hole. vent is much closer to the end of his tail. cannot find my scale but he is 6.5 to inches long. ill update with his weigh asap when i remember where my scale is .. ..
