Marginated and hibernation

General question about the Marginated tortoise and the hibernation period.

Do they need to go through hibernation/brumation? Are their any benefits for and against? After looking online, most opinions are very scattered.

So I believe that the only reason a tortoise would need to brumate is if it is a female that you plan to breed otherwise there is no problem with keeping them up with heat and lights.
