Male or Female??

Hello i have had this baby African Sulcata desert tortoise for about 2 or 3 months now and she is healthy and she is growing. The thing is i havent named it!! I have no idea how to tell if it's male or female. Can you tell when they're babies? or do you have to wait 3 or 4 years until they grow? If you do have to wait until they grow how do you tell if it's male or female?? i just wanna name it!!

You pretty much can only guess at this stage, unless you have it tested. If you know what temperature it was incubated, that too can help give you a bit better idea, but still would just be a guess. So I would advise giving a generic name that works for both genders. Or just name it how it looks or seems to you. To be honest, your tortoise will never care what you call it.

I prefer to use names that can go either way for the babies that I can't tell for sure what the gender is. My Sulcatas are named Kasey, Kendall, Dee, Dusty, and Devon, all names that can be for a boy OR a girl

Yup, Laura said it. Rabbit pellets bad. I see some bumps already. You are in need of some humidity.

Every once in a while I can tell the sex on a young one. I could tell on my Daisy and her brother at three months old. Most of them have to be a bit older. Post a clear pic of the anal scute region and we can take a guess.
