I wish I could. :( Maybe the other people will pass when they find out they are box turtles and not tortoises? They are about a 2.5 hour drive from me but I would have been happy to go get them and give them a better life. :(

don’t they deliver?? ???

The guy who had these "tortoises" for sale finally met up with me. I knew they were in bad shape but the big one is in way worse shape than I thought. ? He had them for 10 years and got them from a guy who “rescued” them that no longer he’d wanted them and was told to feed them dog food and apple cores. The little one is definitely dominate and I know I need to separate them ASAP. Poor things. Most reptile vets are booked out 2-3 weeks here but I was able to snag a cancellation today.

What are your trained eyes seeing? I know they were on the wrong diet and substrate (small aquarium with sand), their beaks are very overgrown, they are missing toes, severely dehydrated. If they were poultry, I' say they had scaley leg might but I don't know if that's a thing in turtles. What else? What is up with the crustiness on their shells? Is the big one's eyes bulging? Is the big one a gulf coast? Are they male or female?

Pics coming in a min or two.

What is this one? In the initial post, someone thought it might be a gulf coast but I'm thinking maybe a desert? It does not have much of a tail so I'm not sure if you can tell but is it male or female?

No pix yet. But, I’m sure they need a ton of soaking! Maybe some Pedialyte added to the soaking water. Tons of fresh food.

Yeah, sorry for the delay. I'm working off my phone's hot spot. I just got one posted. Working on the 2nd one now. Thank you for looking!

This is the littler, much more active, dominant one. Is it a 3 toed? I think I saw more than 3 toes but I'm not sure that any others have that distinctive round shell?

I made separate posts for each one. The vet is about an hour and a half from home so I have to take them there before I'll get home to soak them. If any trained eyes recognize anything, I can make sure I address it with the vet this afternoon. Thanks so much!

Beautiful, great big eyes! I don' know what that poor turtle endured that left her feet i such bad shape, but, THANK GOD the turtle now lives with someone who is going to care for it properly!!! I'm sticking with gulf coast.

The smaller one MIGHT be an ornata. Hard to tell because of the shell damage. Her feet don't look too good either.

How big is it? Likely a Gulfie. Box turtle hinge is functional.
