Ok so I have been thinking lately about getting a bearded dragon!!of course later on when I know everything about them!!!...I will for sure end up getting one of those cuties!!!

So where can you buy them?

How much do they sell for?

Where are the caresheets for them?

What is the best species?

Is there a forum for them?

Thanks!!

1. You can buy them from a breeder, the internet, a pet shop, a reptile show, just about anywhere…
2. Highly variable depending on what age and color morph. $50-5000
3. I'd look on the bearded dragon forum. It is listed at the bottom of this page. Link: http://www.beardeddragonforum.com
4. Pogona vitticeps.
5. Yes. See #3 above.

I like bearded dragons and they are a good pet, but blue tongue skinks are even better pets, and easier to care for and set up too. Look into both before you decide. Read this care sheet: http://www.bluetongueskinks.net

If you decide to go with a bearded dragon, order up some dubia roaches and get your colony going ASAP. It takes several months to really get a colony established well enough to feed your dragon.

I don't know much about the other species, or how commonly available they are. The vast majority of keepers just have the "regular" one. Look into it though. Maybe you'll discover something really cool.

There are lots of neat little lizards available for people who are into them.

if you're looking for a lizard that requires a
small space you could always go to the chameleon route

Chameleons are quite demanding.

The other pagona species are much rarer in captivity. If you want a lizard smaller then 24 inches I would suggest a leopard gecko.

Hi. Just to give you some frame of reference, this is Batman. He is 25 inches. He lives is a 4x3 Viv. His buddy Robin is the same, but slightly slimmer and he lives in the top one which is 4x2 feet.

Yea I just want a smaller dragon I think my parents wouldn't accept a 24 inch dragon lol

24" would be a really big one, and half of that is tail.

Also, its not the size of the lizard, its the size of the cage needed. Single beardies do fine in a 48" enclosure.

Or do what I did....bring them home when the other half is out, and she had no option BUT to let me keep them! They were only 3-4 inches when I got them, and she didn't know they would reach 2 feet long....as Tom says though, they are 50% tail....
