I have little tiny white bug-mite things on my substrate... What are they? Do they pose a problem for my torts?

they are either springtails or mites and neither will hurt the tortoises. They come from your wet substrate. They are a pain in the arse for the keeper but the torts don't notice them. When I finally am tired of looking at them I pour boiling hot water over the substrate, but it's really hard to get rid of them. Was that your mother complaining to the produce people at Richey's about me getting all the trimmings?:D
