@Tom what about using something like this?

My tortoise table height is only around 30 centimetres.

I am using just a normal fitting like this.
You want a flood, not a spot. The bulb should be frosted to diffuse the light. No halogens or MVBs as those are too desiccating. LEDs don't make any heat, but are good if you need to add more light.

I bought one. This is the only flood bulb they have in indonesia. Maybe they have it somewhere, i have to look for it again slowly. But the light is so big 12 x 12 cm haha. I will find a way to put it inside.

This is the setting i've been using for the last 5 months. Missing a good basking spot. The temperature start from 27 (around the cave) on the left and slowly up to 33. And 35 under the light on the right side.

I wish i could order the bulb from uline ?

That is a cfl. Compact fluorescent lamp. It won't generate any heat and its potentially harmful to the eyes. You need an incandescent bulb.

Oh well...they really don't have it here in Indonesia. Mostly just spot one they are selling.

Do you have another suggestion? Does ceramic lamp works?

I am sorry if i bother too much about the light. But i really hope to find the correct one for the tortoise. So i went out to another city, and i find this one.

Is this correct bulb? Or still not it? @Tom ?

Those aren't frosted for diffusion, but they might work if that is all you've got.

Glad to read this haha.

About the frosted for diffusion. Maybe i can use a dimmer? It will help a bit right?

I don't know why Indonesia not selling the incandescent flood bulb. Maybe no one really use it here.

A dimmer will help dial in the correct temp, but won't help with light diffusion.

I see.

Well its a 25 watt light. Maybe it won't make it too bright? Since they have like chrome color around the bulb too.

I will tested it first and post a picture later on.

Tested in run for around 2 hours.

It doesn't looks good.
The temperature start from 32C from the left side and around 37C under the light.

Maybe because the enclosure is too small. Its a 80 x 50 x 30 cm size.

Maybe this light will be good when i upgraded it to 120 cm size. The close lid wil be ready in two days. I will move the tortoise there...

Without any light on. My enclosure stay at 27 C from the left to 33 on the right. Its the same both way day and night.

Waiting and hoping for comment and more input from you guys. Especially Sir @Tom

32C on the "cool" side and 37 under the basking area is perfect for daytime. Cooling to 27 at night is great.
