Its been about 6 weeks since my last clutch of Burmese Stars hatched and I had one egg left. When I candled it, it looked viable and solid. I left it in the incubator for a couple of weeks after its last clutch mate hatched and then I figured I'd chuck it. I'm all done for the whole season with all eggs from all species, except for this one egg. I checked it again on the day I decided to chuck it and it still didn't stink and its still looked good, so I decided to shut down the otherwise empty giant incubator freezer, and I took this lone egg to the warm reptile room at the ranch where temps in summer fluctuate between 82 and 91. Over the weeks, I've looked over at this egg and repeated figured it would start to stink and be in need of chucking.
Good thing I didn't chuck it! This little one just hatched out of it:
His appearance is quite unique. Here is what they usually look like right after hatching:
I think I will keep this one for a while and see how the color develops.
