Dear all,
I just bought a trio of K. spekii that I will receive in mid-April.
So, I propose you to share my experience with this species.

To begin, here is a picture of them:
img_4110.jpg

2 males and 1 female with a good cohabitation.
I will see if I have to take other females in the future.
Did some of you have any experience within sex ratios with spekii?

For now I will keep them in a 200x80 indoor enclosure setup like an open table.
Substrate: mix of sand, bark and soil with bamboo leaves.
Lamps: Solar Raptor Flood type 35W with ballast.

Waiting for next week-end to start the enclosure housing and put some pictures. :)

Thanks a lot, very excited, can't wait!
They are CB 2005, I didn't want WC or LTC due to high level of death.

They look like very nice animals, but are they really captive bred? Perhaps they lived outside their entire lives? To me, their growth looks extremely natural and I would never had guess that they were CB animals based on the photo of this group.

Totally agree, not sure of course.
They are from Germany and the breeder kept them for 3 years.
The previous enclosure looks very nice and it is from a very serious breeder so I am quite confident even if it is not real CB, at least LTC.

Understood- keep us updated! Hingebacks are really great species! Keeping them as a trio shouldn't pose issues but I would keep a careful eye on their weights to make sure all are getting enough food, water, etc.

For sure I will keep you informed.
Next step is to assembly the 200x80x200 rack and then build the terrarium before April, for now I'm quite convenient but I prefer to be in advance than to be late. :p
So I will post some pictures of each step if I remember.
Sure I will control weight of everybody and the behaviour just in case of. :)

If you have some tips on the keeping,... don't hesitate ! ;)

They look very nice and can't wait to read the update, with photos when you get them back in mid-April.

Just to keep you informed :
I mounted the rack, this is a 200x80x200cm for heavy loads

For walls I used OSB3.
Even if it's quite stable I choose to put some squares for a better rigidity.

Then I put the EPDM liner pond.

For next step I have some vegetal soil I will mixt with sand and bamboo leaves for substrate. :)

Hoping have them in time because of coronavirus and confinement in France… :(
Stay safe, we haven't been confined to our homes yet in America but I feel it's coming soon.

Good work. Any chance you could be convinced to not use sand because of possibility of intestinal impaction:confused:?
