Is this an ear abscess?

My radiata is walking and eating fine but I've noticed he is a bit pink near the skin of his head. Is this an ear abscess and could this also be a skin infection? Im thinking about doing the lancing myself. If I go to the vet do I watch for anesthesia and too much vitamin A given by the vet?

Looks like an abscess to me. It may not be ready yet to lance. Wait a week or so.

If your vet lances it ask them if a culture/sensitivity may be of value.

no, he means testing the fluid to determine what bacteria caused the abscess

The vet would take a sample of any fluid. Look under the microscope for cells and organisms then culture for bacterial growth and what antibiotic would be most suitable and safest.
