Is this a plantain?

I have these growing all over the yard, and my tortoise eats them, but I stop her because I don't know if it's okay for her to eat. What is it? I think it might be a plantain, not the fruit kind

They grow in cluster, those leaves growing around the main part of the plant. Can anyone help?

That doesn't look like the plantain i have growing in my area.
I'll take a picture of them so you can see the differences.

I live in New York state. I looked them up online, it looks very similar, she loves to eat them.

I don't know if there are different varieties. Maybe.. ??

Yes it is plantain, and its a great food for them.


Heather, your plantain is our Southern CA dry climate, anemic, barely alive and surviving in a lawn version of plantain... :p

I also have thos here. I just avoided them because I wasn't sure if they were a different type of plantain or if it was something different. But the tortoise table website says all varieties of plantian sre good for tortoises, so I guess the kind doesn't matter?
